The Property

NODA (No One Dies Alone) is a programme that offers companionship and support to people who are nearing the end of life, who have no family or whose family, for whatever reason, are unable to accompany them at this time.

Our goals are;
● To provide a compassionate and caring presence for patients who are dying alone.
● Support those who are dying alone so their death can be as dignified as possible.
● Relieve family or care staff who are concerned about a patient who is dying alone.

The NODA programme is now available in North Canterbury and is offered by a team of Police vetted and trained volunteers.

Should you have a patient who is expected to die in the next 24 to 72 hours and faces the prospect of dying alone, please contact the NODA team and advise of the patient’s location, general circumstances and who to contact on our arrival.

The NODA contact is noda.northcanterbury@gmail.com

On receipt of such a call the members are notified by an app which allows them to roster themselves to come and sit with the patient over the relevant period.
